Summary
There is no code or tracking in the app. No personally identifiable information (PII) is required to use airport.observer. If you do enter PII to enable certain features, it's stored securely and never sold.
Anonymous analytics are collected to improve the app.
About this policy
This policy is written to be as clear as possible, because that's what I (the developer) want from the service I use myself. Your data is yours and is handled with care and sense.
Information and how it is used
Some information is collected so I can improve the app. This is collected anonymously so it cannot be traced back to you. For example:
- The type of phone you have (so I know how to make the app look good on that device)
- The version of the app you're running (so I know how many users are on each version)
- The language you prefer, based on your system settings (so I can translate the app in your preferred language)
No private information is required to use airport.observer. There is nothing identifiable that I store about you. Anonymous statistics help me understand how the app is used.
Sharing, retention, and your choices
Some information can be collected with your permission. This is optional, and I don't see this information other than knowing you have provided it (so I can provide the experience in return). This includes:
- Your location: If you choose to share your location with the app, it is only used to show you the closest airport or nearby airport amenities to you.
- I do not store your location, but I will count it as a visit to that airport.
- This helps me understand which airports are used most often.
- Creating an account: If you choose to create an account, it's tied to your Apple ID. I don't store this information because I don't send unsolicited emails or sell your information.
- I do have emails you can optionally subscribe to (app updates and marketing announcements).
- If you opt-in to these, I store your email address so I can send them to you.
- Push notifications: If you choose to receive push notifications, I use random tokens to identify you to send you the alerts you've subscribed to.
No information is required to use the app. Naturally, I do have certain features behind paywalls so that I can keep the app ad-free and sustainable. If you purchase a subscription or pay to unlock content, your information is kept within Apple and never stored on my servers. Thanks for your support!
Legal importance
I use the information collected to operate and improve the app and customer support.
I may disclose your information in response to subpoenas, court orders, or other legal requirements; to exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims; to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud or abuse, violations of our policies; or to protect our rights and property.
In the future, we may sell to, buy, merge with, or partner with other businesses. In such transactions, user information may be among the transferred assets. That information is described in this policy; there is no transfer of your information to third parties unless you have given your consent.
California Online Privacy Protection Act Compliance
We comply with the California Online Privacy Protection Act. We therefore will not distribute your personal information to outside parties without your consent.
Children's Online Privacy Protection Act Compliance
We never collect or maintain information at our website from those we actually know are under 13, and no part of our website is structured to attract anyone under 13.

By using our services and providing your information, you authorize us to collect, use, and store your information outside of the European Union.

Information may be processed, stored, and used outside of the country in which you are located. Data privacy laws vary across jurisdictions, and different laws may be applicable to your data depending on where it is processed, stored, or used.
